What's included in an annual physical
Your annual physical is the foundation of long-term primary care. We take time to review your history, do a thorough exam, order appropriate screenings, and walk you out with a clear plan, not a stack of vague follow-up instructions.
- Comprehensive head-to-toe physical exam tailored to your age, sex, and risk factors
- Vital signs, BMI, blood pressure trends and a discussion of what they mean
- Medication review and refills for an entire year when appropriate
- Lab work: cholesterol panel, blood sugar/A1c, kidney and liver function, thyroid as indicated
- Cancer screenings: colon cancer, breast/cervical, prostate, skin and lung when appropriate
- Cardiovascular risk assessment and lifestyle planning
- Immunizations including flu, COVID, shingles, pneumonia, Tdap, and travel vaccines
- Mental health screening for depression, anxiety, and sleep concerns
Who should schedule an annual physical?
Every adult, every year. Even if you feel well. Many of the most common chronic conditions, high blood pressure, prediabetes, high cholesterol, thyroid disease, are silent until they're not. Annual physicals are how we find them early.
If you're on Medicare, your free Annual Wellness Visit is a separate covered benefit and can be paired with a comprehensive physical the same day.
