What a primary care doctor actually does for you
A primary care provider is the person who knows your whole medical picture rather than one episode of it. That role covers more than an annual checkup. Your primary care provider keeps your preventive screenings on schedule, manages long-term conditions like high blood pressure and diabetes, handles day-to-day illness, prescribes and adjusts your medications, orders and interprets labs, refers you to specialists when you genuinely need one, and keeps track of what those specialists recommend so nothing falls through the cracks.
In a city the size of Las Vegas, that continuity is the part that is hardest to find. Urgent care handles tonight's problem well and forgets you tomorrow. A primary care relationship is what turns a decade of individual visits into an actual health trajectory someone is watching.
How to choose a primary care doctor in Las Vegas
The valley has no shortage of clinics, and most of them look similar on an insurance directory. These are the questions that actually separate them:
- How soon can I be seen? If a new-patient appointment is three months out, you will end up at urgent care in the meantime. Ask for the real wait.
- How long is a visit? High-volume practices book 10–15 minute slots. That is not enough time for a medication review plus a new concern.
- Who answers when I message? Ask whether portal messages reach the clinical team or an outsourced call center.

Abigail is licensed as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by the Nevada State Board of Nursing and board-certified as an Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP-C) through the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She provides full-scope adult primary care across the adult lifespan, from young professionals establishing care for the first time to seniors on Medicare managing several conditions at once.

What to expect at your first visit
Your first appointment runs 30 to 60 minutes. We go through your full medical and surgical history, every medication and supplement you take, your family history, and whatever brought you in. Then a physical exam, any labs or screenings that are due based on your age and risk factors, and a plan we build with you rather than hand to you.
Bring with you:
- Photo ID and your insurance card
- A list of current medications, doses, and pharmacy
- Records or recent labs from a previous provider, if you have them
- Names of any specialists you currently see
- Your questions, written down, so the visit covers what matters to you

We are currently in-network with Medicare, Aetna, and UnitedHealthcare. Credentialing with additional commercial plans and Tricare is actively in progress, and the status changes month to month, so calling (725) 322-2710 is the fastest way to confirm your plan today.
If your plan is not active with us yet, you do not have to wait to establish care. We publish transparent self-pay rates, and Medicare patients can use covered services like the Annual Wellness Visit right away. Details are on the insurance page.

We are at 9315 W Sunset Rd, Ste 101A, Las Vegas, NV 89148, inside Las Vegas city limits at Sunset and Fort Apache and roughly a minute from the 215 Beltway. Parking is free and on-site, with accessible spaces near the suite entrance. Office hours are Mon–Fri 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM · Sat 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM.

Do I need a primary care doctor if I am healthy?
Yes. A primary care provider tracks your baseline over time, keeps preventive screenings and vaccines current, and gives you somewhere to go when something does come up. Establishing care while you are healthy means you are not looking for a new provider during an urgent problem.
Can a nurse practitioner be my primary care provider?
In Nevada, yes. Our primary care team includes board-certified nurse practitioners Abigail Leonoras, APRN, AGNP-C and Elise Erwin, APRN-BC, FNP, licensed by the Nevada State Board of Nursing. They practice as full-scope primary care providers: physicals, chronic disease management, prescriptions, labs, referrals, and Medicare wellness visits.
What happens at a first primary care visit?

Do you offer telehealth for Las Vegas patients?
